ABOUT
A true artistic shape-shifter, Tum Ásh thrives in unexpected places—whether directing a band of jungle animals in a queer zebra musical at the legendary Palace Residency in Poland, producing an experimental-art-pop EP with Berlin underground musicians, or drumming with a psychedelic cumbia band during a tour of British festivals such as Bluedot.
Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Tum Ásh (aka Tomás Pocinho) has lived in Mexico, the US, and the UK, and is now based in Berlin. A drummer, percussionist, and sonic architect, he shapes sound through acoustic and electronic textures—drum kits, percussion, drum machines, synthesizers, foley, and effects.
But beyond being a multi-instrumentalist, Tum Ásh is also a producer and music director, shaping interdisciplinary projects across theater, dance, film, and visual arts. Inspired by the creative philosophies of Rick Rubin and Christopher Nolan, his holistic approach brings artistic visions to life—transforming even the wildest concepts into immersive experiences.
In addition to his performance and production work, Tum Ásh likes to share his passion for music within the educational setting. Therefore, in 2022, he founded Tomás Pocinho Drums, now one of Berlin’s highest-rated drum schools.
